ATTR has rescued another poor soul that desperately needed out of her current situation. We want to introduce Zela our newest mom with 4 puppies. Zela has been horribly neglected and we dare say mistreated by her owner for the past 8 or 9 years. She is malnourished, has 2 types of Lymes disease and is Heartworm positive. And that is just the start of her issues at her elderly age. She has ear infections that have nearly closed her ears that are filled with growths and puss oozing nearly all the time. When you see the horrible state she has been in for probably most of her life you want to cry. Then when you actually meet her and her tail wags and she moves toward you for affection you completely fall apart. She is the sweetest dog you will ever want to meet. We think she is blind in one eye and she has very little stamina. He will to live and nurse the puppies she came with is astonishing. We quietly removed two of her puppies last night into foster to ease her into the second two going to foster homes today so we can properly start to treat her today. We can only imagine her body aches, her ear aches, her starvation and her fatigue. If anyone can foster this senior girl ATTR will provide all medical, food and crates needed to keep her as comfortable and happy as possible. She is mostly sleeping now so we think she will only bring a foster home the pure joy of seeing a dog realize the comforts of home and love she has never experienced. Below read the post that compelled ATTR to say yes we will take in this senior and ease her journey in this word. He puppies are all fat and sassy showing us she have given all of herself and it is now her time. We have 2 experienced foster homes with resident dogs that will take over the role of socializing and nurturing her puppies that are already eating solid food.
Facebook posting on Zela-
Zela came to my attention a couple of months ago. I went to this residence after an acquaintance of my husband called for help in placing a JRT momma and 2 babes. I saw the poor old dog, chained, and asked if I might take her as well. The stegosaurus person replied, “No, she is my ‘watchdog’.” She was not in the condition she is now, but…it was not good. I inquired a couple of times after to get the same answer. In the meantime, a Chihuahua that had been tied under the trailer…..got ate. I never saw it. Finally, the Witch called and said to come and get her…..she had had puppies. All this time, poor Zela was chained, unable to protect herself or her babies. OR….get food. These ‘people’; if you wish to call them that, have no moral obligations to…anything. They do not buy groceries; they catch rides and go to all the free lunches, dinners, handouts possible. There is a mother and son. Their bellies are round. Some of the last ‘food’ these animals had there was potato peels. These people shot and killed the probable father of Zela’s pups, a feral dog. As far as I can determine, Zela is between 8 and 10 years old and has been chained all her life. I do not presume she has had any vetting whatsoever and there is no telling how many defenseless puppies has fell out of her poor body; nor what happened to them. I would guess their chances were…grim. Zela is a remarkable dog! Despite her horrible “living”(?) conditions, she is an extremely friendly and loving dog. She has no issues with people. I really don’t understand, but she is one of the friendliest, most humble and gracious dogs I have ever met. If there is a ’reward’ for goodness. I pray she will get hers. She is in the shadows of her life, one that was meant by God to be joyous and carefree. I hope so very much that SHE will get what SHE deserves….a warm spot in front of a fire; a cool breeze on a porch…she is old and has served; and she deserves all this and more…an abundance of love for her poor body and her old wise loving soul. Please be selective where she goes…she deserves only the best.
